The Learningden Preschool serves as an extension of your child’s home. Our school is a place where children imagine, explore, create and learn with natural materials: clay, real art supplies, and items found in the home.
We believe children learn through interaction with peers, parents, staff and friends, in a friendly learning environment. Our curriculum is based on the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education and are driven by questions, information and excitement expressed by the children themselves.
We teach and nurture the whole child. We dedicate ourselves to a center where children flourish and have a strong sense of community, family and togetherness.
The Reggio Emilia philosophy is based upon the following set of principles: Children must have some control over the direction of their learning; children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, seeing, and hearing; children have a relationship with other children and with material items in the world that children must be allowed to explore; and children must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.
Our Reggio Emilia inspired philosophy encourages children to explore our spacious and well-equipped classrooms while enjoying cooperative play with peers, experiencing art, music and movement, dramatic play, books, science and math and so much more in a caring and supportive environment.
This philosophy does not end when the child leaves the classroom. Most parents who choose to send their children to a Reggio Emilia program incorporate many of the principles within their parenting and home life. In most school environments, intellectual curiosity is rewarded, so students continue to reap the benefits of Reggio after they’ve left the program.

Let me know if you need help navigating the newly redesigned site -- tons of new groups, features and giveaways have gone up since you joined!
Hope to see you around ...
The first thing you'll want to do when you have time is browse the Groups and join any and all that interest you -- this is key, and the best way to connect with other swappers, PLUS you'll get email alerts when anything new is posted.
Then, if you see something you like in a group discussion, go to that Mama's page (just click on her photo) to see what she's looking for and if you have anything to swap!
You should definitely join one of the California Mamas groups and connect with local Swap Mamas (especially great for larger items like the furniture you're looking for!). You'll find the list of Regional Groups HERE. (Don't see your area? Why not start a group and invite your local friends? Or parents of your students?)
And remember, Swap Mamas has a "No Money" policy -- it's all swapping or gifting! (Not to mention lots of good karma!)
In the meantime, don't hesitate to let me (or any of the Ambassadors on the FAQ page) know if you have any questions about the site. (The How It Works tab at the top of the page has a bunch of helpful info too.) If you want to help spread the word, it's as easy as clicking on the INVITE tab at the top of the page and telling all your friends -- the more the merrier! You can also help tell the world about Swap Mamas by putting a badge on your site -- you'll find a link on the home page in the right sidebar. Tweeting is always good too! We also have a Facebook page if you want to become a fan!
So glad to have you here -- happy swappin'!
